KEY MILESTONES
E.M. Caplow and Associates began in the early 1950s in Los Angeles as a Real Estate Brokerage firm.
In the mid-’50s, the firm played an instrumental role in securing the land rights and brokering the development of two landmark real estate projects:
- Reston, Virginia – one of the first planned residential communities in America
- Simmons Brickyard – the largest industrial park in East Los Angeles at that time
By the late ’60s, the firm began to focus primarily on developing and managing commercial retail properties in locations throughout the western United States.
From the mid-’70s to the present, the firm has been involved in the development or management of over 75 commercial retail properties for such companies as Home Depot, 24 Hour Fitness, Kmart, Office Depot, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Vons and McDonald’s.
Today, the firm is focused on developing transformative retail spaces in urban settings, while still maintaining its long-standing interest and relationship with a number of the nation’s leading retailers.
