ELLIOTT CAPLOW, FOUNDER

Elliott began his long and illustrious career as a broker with Hollingsworth and Co. after graduating from UCLA in 1952 with a degree in business. He is credited with brokering two landmark properties during the 1950s—the Simmons Brickyard, which at the time was the largest industrial park in East Los Angeles, and Reston, Virginia, which was one of the first planned residential communities in America.  In 1959, Elliott founded E.M. Caplow and Associates to develop outstanding commercial and residential properties throughout the western United States. Under Elliott’s leadership, E.M. Caplow and Associates became one of the most prolific developers of Kmart shopping centers during the ‘70s and ‘80s. Today, the company draws on his 50-plus years of experience to help ensure its continued success.
